“I work with ceramics and metal, often in combination. What draws me to both is how they keep changing: glazes pool and crack in the kiln, iron oxidises, steel changes colour, copper turns green. I set up the conditions and then hand the rest over. The surfaces I end up with are shared between me and whatever the material does next. For my diploma I'm making a group of metal works based on dreams I've recorded since I was a teenager. Over the past year I've gone through this material more systematically, tracing personal symbols, recurring places and patterns that keep coming back in different forms....“
